Sausage Roll |
A sausage roll is a British savoury pastry snack, popular in Commonwealth nations and beyond. They are sold at retail outlets and are also available from bakeries as a take-away food. A miniature version can be served as buffet or party food.
Ingredient:
- Flour
- Butter
- Baking Powder
- ½ small garlic clove
- handful parsley , chopped
- 400g pack sausagemeat or sausages
- 375g pack ready-rolled puff pastry
- 1 beaten egg , to glaze
Method
Step 1
- Sieve flour in a bowl add baking powder and mix together
- Add butter
- Mix together until it like bad crumbs
- Add water gradually until forms a ball
Step 2
- Preheat oven to 220°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- With a rolling pin speed pastry on a clean surface.
- Combine mince, onion, carrot, egg, parsley, dried herbs and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until well combined. Cut pastry sheets in half.
- Shape one-quarter of the mince mixture into a sausage and place along 1 long edge of pastry. Roll up pastry to enclose mince mixture.
- Cut roll into 4. Place, seam side down, on prepared tray. Repeat with remaining mince mixture and pastry.
- Brush sausage roll tops with milk.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden and puffed.
- Allow to cool on tray for 5 minutes.
Serve hot.
